Gerry Joe Weise - Australian Composer, Musician and Producer.

CONTEMPORARY CLASSICAL COMPOSER - ORCHESTRAL MUSIC

Gerry Joe Weise, Australian composer.Gerry Joe Weise, composer.
Gerry Joe Weise (born 1959, in Sydney, Australia), is an Australian musician and composer.
Weise's main inspiration is Béla Bartók, who he considers his favorite composer and musician of all time. Other influences include Stravinsky, Debussy, and Australian folklore music. The coastal landscapes of Australia have often inspired Weise's music. As a teenager, Weise had a large collection of Karlheinz Stockhausen records, which paved his introduction into Contemporary music. Nevertheless Weise relies on his own personal originality for his compositions on rhythm, harmony, and dissonance, which he has been studying and composing since the 1970s.
Weise has lived and worked in Australia; and overseas in France, Germany, Switzerland, and the United States. He has also toured other European countries.
As a teacher, he has taught music or conducted workshops for: the Woodlawn Arts Academy, Sterling, IL, USA; Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse, Paris, France; Conservatoire de Musique et de Danse, Laon, France;
the Music Conservatorium, Darwin, Australia.
Weise is represented by Contemporary Arc Australia, and his music is available on iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, Spotify, etc. His music scores can be found at the National Library of Australia, and other works can be found at the Library of Congress, USA; and la Bibliothèque Nationale de France.

Blue Concerto for Orchestra (Slide Guitar and Violin),
composed by Gerry Joe Weise,
genre: Australian Contemporary Classical music.

Blue Concerto for Orchestra (Slide Guitar and Violin) was written by one of Australia's most talented composers, Gerry Joe Weise. He wrote the concerto over a long fifteen year period, with quite a journey and a story to tell. It all began in 2001 while he was a teacher for the Music Conservatorium, at the Charles Darwin University, in the Northern Territory. Australia. The concerto's harmonious structure was first shaped with haunting melodies, for a symphony orchestra and large choir. He was often sent by the University to remote indigenous communities of Arnhem Land, and influences of the way of life in the secluded parts of the Top End, the bush east of Kakadu, made their way into the lonely tonal moods of his concerto. During his travels around Europe, he stopped just outside of Paris, in Laon, France. While working on performances and music videos, at the Laon Music and Danse Conservatoire in 2009, he added two more movements to his concerto. The conservatoire is part of the ramparts, that encircle the old stone fortification of Laon built in the Middle Ages. An annual medieval festival is held within the walled city. The impact on the epic arrangements of the concerto's movements, and the melodious sounds of the orchestra's instrumentation, added an European flavour to the original Australian debut. It took several more years of difficult financing, with several stops and starts, to finally have his concerto see the light of day. He says, he almost had to give up in the end. But patience and perseverance can be trademarks. Finally midway of 2016, after receiving sufficient funds from the Arts Council, he began rehearsals in Sydney with the St Peters Symphony Orchestra and Choir. Engaging Edward Macmillan as orchestra conductor, and adding final touches to the orchestral score. The concerto was recorded to 64 tracks, at the Sydney Conservatorium by Tom Baldwin, assisted by Betsy Fuller and Jay Tyler. On the recording, Gerry Joe Weise was featured performing slide guitar, violin solo and piano, along with the symphony orchestra and choir. He was also the sound engineer for the later mixing stages, assisted by Karen Bloome, at the Jetty Foreshore Studios in Coffs Harbour. The single was released 23rd of October worldwide to 148 countries, by the record label Blues Breaking Records in Chicago, with whom he has been releasing albums since 2008.
