Osaka Castle was built in 1583. The castle is one of Japan's most famous landmarks, and it played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century. The castle is surrounded by inner and outer moats, and by an extensive park, with a total area of 106 hectares / 260 acres. Located in the heart of Osaka, the park has many historic structures. The Nishinomaru Garden has over 300 cherry trees, and the park also has a plum orchard, boasting over 1,200 trees in 100 varieties.

As a composer Gerry Joe Weise's main inspiration is Béla Bartók, other influences include Stravinsky, Debussy, Stockhausen, Australian and Asian folklore music. He relies on his own personal originality for his compositions on rhythm, harmony, and dissonance, which he has been studying and composing since the 1970s.
Weise has lived and worked in Australia; and overseas in France, Germany, Switzerland, and the United States. He has also toured other European countries. As a teacher, he has taught music or conducted workshops in the United States, France and Australia. Weise is represented by Contemporary Arc Australia, his music scores can be found at the National Library of Australia, and other works can be found at the Library of Congress USA, and la Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
Gerry Joe Weise is an Awards winning guitarist, who is a multi-instrumentalist, specializing in piano, flute, violin, percussion, and vocals.
